The 2015 SAPNA Youth Outreach Programme was a great success thanks to the generosity of professionals that volunteered their time to empower grade 12 learners from Fons Luminis Secondary School in Soweto and Malatse Motsepe Secondary School outside Pretoria. Professionals and entrepreneurs in various industries including Finance, IT, HR, Audit, Retail and Insurance got together to share how they got to where they are, challenges they faced and how they succeeded despite difficult situations.
Learners were empowered with information on how to make the right career choices and how to finance their studies. Many learners do not have good role models in their lives therefore also lacking opportunities to engage and ask questions that will guide them towards achieving their own goals.
SAPNA seeks to continue with this amazing initiative every year and grow the number of schools that benefit. A mentorship programme between professionals and learners is currently being set up to further guide and support learners.
